New York City Bans Smoking Outdoors in Public Places
ByWell, it looks like another advantage for using electronic smokeless cigarettes is upon us in NYC today: a new outdoor citywide smoking ban is taking place now.
The law will “make smoking illegal in New York City’s 1,700 parks and on the city’s 14 miles of public beaches.” The main point, of course, is to prevent exposing people to second hand smoke and to also reduce litter in the parks and beaches.
There are 105 municipalities (in states including California, Hawaii, Massachusetts and New Jersey) that currently prevent public smoking on the beach, and another 507 municipalities that ban smoking from parks.
The fee if you’re caught smoking is $50. That could get quite expensive! Just another reason to switch to ecigs, since you can smoke them almost anywhere.
